Nintendo DS = Nintendo Dual Screen. It's the bomb. (Get the DS Lite version.) It plays both DS and Gameboy Advance games. It has 2 back lit screens (easier to see)
Gameboy Advance SP = Previous generation of portable gaming. Lame in comparison to the DS. Backlit screen. It can play Gameboy Advance and old school Gameboy games.
Gameboy Micro also has a backlit screen. It only plays Gameboy Advance games. It's more of a novelty item due to the size.
If you don't want to spend the extra $40/$50 get the Gameboy Advance SP. If you don't mind spending $110/$120 for the superior/newer product the DS is definitely what you want. Plus you can play NintenDogs on the DS. (Kinda like a virtual pet type thing) A lot of girls/moms went nuts about that game a couple months ago.
Other awesome games for the DS: Mario Kart DS, NEW Super Mario DS, Brain Age (and other brain teaser games), and they have a Sudoku game as well if you're into it...
